Where to Buy a Printer in Rawalpindi & Islamabad

There are more ways to buy a printer in Rawalpindi and Islamabad than ever — the old computer markets, brand dealers, Daraz, OLX and Facebook Marketplace, and online sellers who deliver to your door. Each one gets you a different mix of price, choice and protection. This guide is a fair look at all of them, including ourselves, followed by the checks you should run before money changes hands wherever you buy.

The computer markets

In Rawalpindi, printer shops cluster around Saddar and Bank Road, along 6th Road and Commercial Market in Satellite Town, and on College Road. In Islamabad the main clusters are Blue Area, Karachi Company in G-9 Markaz, Aabpara and the I-8 markaz. The upside is real: you can see and test the unit, compare several shops in an afternoon, and bargain. The downside is that most of what is on the counter — especially imported used printers — has not been serviced or metered, warranty is often verbal, and the price you get depends heavily on how much you already know.

Authorised dealers and brand stores

For a brand-new HP with the official Pakistan warranty, an authorised dealer is the straightforward route. You pay the full new price, but the warranty is honoured through HP's service network and the unit is sealed. This makes most sense for current models that are cheap to run — the 107a/108a family, the M211dw or the Smart Tank 585. Daraz, OLX and Facebook Marketplace

Daraz is convenient for new printers, but check the seller's ratings, whether the model is the Pakistan-region version (cartridge numbers differ by region — the toner guide explains), and who handles the warranty. OLX and Marketplace are where most used printers change hands, and where most bad buys happen: stock photos, no test print, a 'just serviced' claim with no page count, and no recourse once you have paid. Specialist online sellers with delivery and Cash on Delivery

The newest option is a specialist who tests and lists the printer online, delivers it to your door in Rawalpindi or Islamabad, and takes payment only after you have seen it print. Checks to run wherever you buy

• Print a text page and a page with a solid black area on the spot. Faded bands, lines or grey background are cartridge, drum or fuser faults.
• Print the configuration page and read the total page count — a used printer without one is priced blind. How to check it on any HP.
• Confirm the exact model suffix. M404dn has duplex and Ethernet; M404n does not have duplex; a P2035 has neither — the specs guide decodes them.
• Check the cartridge is included, is the right part number for the region, and is not a leaking refill.
• Get the warranty in writing on the receipt, with what it covers and for how long, and a phone number that answers.

• Ask for the power and USB cables. It sounds trivial until the shop has closed.
