Which Printer Brand Is Best in Pakistan? HP vs Canon vs Epson vs Brother
'Which company's printer is best?' is a question we get constantly, and it has a Pakistan-specific answer. Print quality between the major brands is close; what differs here is whether you can buy the toner or ink in Saddar and Blue Area, whether a local technician can fix it, and how much each page costs. We sell and repair HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Samsung, Kyocera, Ricoh and Xerox machines, so this is a practical view from the bench, not a spec-sheet ranking.
Brands compared
| Brand | Strongest at | Supplies in Pakistan | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP | Mono and colour lasers, office MFPs | Best — every cartridge refilled everywhere | Chipped cartridges on new entry models |
| Canon | Cheap home lasers (LBP2900, LBP6030) | Very good for 303 / 325 cartridges | Fewer office MFPs on the market |
| Epson | Ink-tank colour (EcoTank L-series) | Very good — 003 ink bottles everywhere | Print head clogs if left unused |
| Brother | Low-cost lasers with separate drum | Good for TN / DR series | Drum and toner bought separately |
| Samsung | Small, cheap personal lasers | Declining — now an HP brand | Chipped cartridges, supply shrinking |
| Kyocera | Lowest cost per page, long-life drum | Good for TK toners | Fewer local technicians than HP |
| Ricoh / Xerox | Copier-class MFPs | Moderate; model specific | Parts cost more than HP desktop |
HP: the default for a reason
HP dominates laser printing in Pakistan. Cartridges such as 05A, 12A, 26A, 59A, 78A, 80A and 85A are refilled in every market, parts are easy to find, and every repair shop knows HP LaserJets. That matters more than any spec: a printer is only as good as its supply chain. The one caution is HP's current entry models (107/108, 135–139, M141, M211), whose chipped cartridges need a chip with each refill — see our HP toner guide. For offices, an imported HP workgroup laser such as the M402dne or M404dn is hard to beat.
Canon: the cheap home laser
Canon's imageCLASS LBP2900B is one of the most common home printers in the country, because its 303 cartridge has no chip, costs little to refill and is stocked everywhere. The newer LBP6030 is faster and smaller with the 325 cartridge. For colour, Canon's PIXMA G2010 ink tank uses GI-790 bottles rated at about 6,000 black and 7,000 colour pages each. Canon is an excellent choice for a simple home or student printer; for networked office MFPs, HP has far more choice on the local market.
Epson: best for home colour
Epson's EcoTank printers — the L3110, L3150, L3210 and L3250 — made cheap colour printing normal in Pakistani homes. Ink comes in bottles that print thousands of pages. The trade-off is that ink-tank heads can clog when the printer sits unused, and a dead head is an expensive repair. Our Epson EcoTank comparison and laser vs ink tank guide explain when that trade-off is worth it. HP's Smart Tank range competes directly — see HP Smart Tank 585 vs Epson L3250.
Brother and Kyocera: lowest running cost
Brother lasers such as the HL-1212W and HL-5450DN use a separate toner cartridge and drum, so most of the time you replace only toner. Kyocera goes further: the ECOSYS P2135dn keeps a long-life drum inside the printer and uses toner-only TK cartridges, giving it the lowest cost per page of anything we sell. Both are well built; the main reason to hesitate is that fewer local technicians work on them than on HP.
Samsung, Ricoh and Xerox
HP bought Samsung's printer business in 2016, so Samsung lasers such as the Xpress M2029 and ML-2165W are cheap, compact and fine for light use, but their chipped cartridges and shrinking supply make them better as budget printers than long-term buys. Ricoh and Xerox make copier-class machines — the Xerox WorkCentre 3325 and Ricoh MP 301SPF are strong office MFPs — but parts cost more and are more model-specific than HP desktop lasers.
The best brand for each use
- Home, black-and-white documents → HP or Canon laser.
- Home, colour and photos → Epson EcoTank or HP Smart Tank.
- Students → HP or Canon laser; see the student printer guide.
- Small office → HP (widest choice of MFPs and supplies), Brother or Kyocera for lowest running cost.
- Heavy office or photocopy shop → HP Enterprise, Ricoh or Xerox.
Before you buy any brand, ask one question: where will I buy the next cartridge, and what does it cost? If the answer is unclear, choose a different model. We stock and refill toner for everything we sell — WhatsApp us the model you are considering.

Frequently asked questions
Which printer brand is best in Pakistan?
HP is the safest all-round choice because its toner, refills, parts and repair skills are available everywhere in Pakistan. Epson is best for home colour through its EcoTank ink tanks, and Canon's LBP2900 is the classic cheap home laser.
Which is better, HP or Canon printer?
For a simple USB home laser both are excellent; Canon's LBP2900 uses a cheap, chip-free 303 cartridge. For office, network and all-in-one printers HP has far more models, supplies and technicians on the Pakistani market.
Which is better, HP or Epson printer?
Epson EcoTank ink tanks are better for cheap colour and photos at home. HP lasers are better for black-and-white documents, higher volumes and printers that sit unused for weeks, because toner does not dry out.
Are Samsung printers still available in Pakistan?
Yes, mainly as imported and used units such as the Xpress M2029 and ML-2165W. Samsung's printer business is now owned by HP, so check toner and chip availability before buying one for long-term use.
Which printer brand has the cheapest toner?
Kyocera usually has the lowest cost per page because the drum lives in the printer and cartridges are toner-only. Among HP lasers, high-yield cartridges such as 26X, 59X and 05X give the lowest cost per page.
