The cheapest to run, by type
- Black & white text → mono laser. Toner cost per page is the lowest of any technology.
- Colour → ink tank. Refilling from bottles costs a fraction of colour cartridges.
- Avoid → old cartridge inkjets. The replacement cartridges often cost more than the printer.
How to compare cost per page
Take the price of a toner/ink refill and divide by its page yield. For example, a toner that costs PKR 6,000 and yields 1,500 pages = PKR 4 per page. A high-yield cartridge usually lowers this further. Ink tank bottles can bring black pages to under a rupee each.
