Best Printer for Online Sellers and Shipping Labels
If you sell on Daraz, run a Shopify or Instagram shop, or ship cash-on-delivery parcels through TCS, Leopards, PostEx, Trax or M&P, you print every day: shipping labels, invoices, packing slips and the courier's load sheet. Thermal labels darken with heat and sunlight over months, which doesn't matter for a parcel that arrives in days. Toner prints are permanent. For most home sellers, the answer is a laser first and a thermal printer later.
How to print labels on an A4 laser
- Plain A4 + tape: print the label PDF, cut it out and tape it on with clear packing tape. The cheapest option.
- A4 sticker sheets (full-sheet or 2-up / 4-up): peel-and-stick labels, sold in Saddar, Hall Road and online. Buy sheets marked for laser printers — inkjet sticker paper can lift in the fuser's heat.
- In the portal's print settings, pick A4 or the 4-per-page layout if offered, and print at 'Actual size' so barcodes scan. Our cutting-off-edges fix helps if barcodes are clipped.
- Feed sticker sheets one at a time from the manual or multipurpose tray if your printer has one; set paper type to Labels.
The printer we'd buy for an online shop
A certified imported mono laser with Ethernet or Wi-Fi, so the phone, laptop and packing table can all print. The HP LaserJet P2055dn is the budget pick at 33 ppm with duplex and a cheap, widely refilled cartridge. The HP LaserJet Pro M402dne is faster with the high-yield 26X cartridge, and the M404dn is the newest of the three. All three handle label sheets from the multipurpose tray. What labels cost per order
- On plain A4 with toner, a label costs a fraction of a rupee in toner plus the paper.
- A 4-up sticker sheet splits one sheet's price across four parcels.
- A thermal 4×6 roll costs per label but needs nothing else.

Print the day's labels in one batch after the order cut-off rather than one at a time. A laser warms up once for twenty labels, and you check every barcode before the rider arrives.
